Alternate Routes
You can cut out the trip to Miranda — and miss the chance for blackpowder rifle shooting — by following Baldy Skyline (and the 2002 fire break) about mile 5-1/2 more directly to Ewells Park. This saves about 2 miles on the day, but skips the opportunity for program at Miranda. On one hand, the black powder rifle shooting at Miranda is great; on the other, crews passing through Miranda are often on a tight schedule and it's possible all the program slots will already be filled by the time you get there. You make your choice and take your chances...
