If you didn't climb the Tooth of Time last evening, start there this morning for the excellent views. It's about 3/4 mile and 400 feet of elevation gain to the top. There are bear cables at the base, so you don't have to carry anything extra up.
Continue the moderate climb from the base of the Tooth to the trail to the top of Shaefers Peak at mile 2-1/2. If you start early enough, the view from Shaefers Peak at sunrise is worth the climb.
Descend from the base of Shaefers Peak continuously to Clarks Fork — another 4 miles.
There is a spring southwest of Shaefers Pass Camp, about 1/4-mile from your trail. In recent years the spring has be dry, but it's worth a check if you need water.
Destination Info
Clarks Fork is a western lore camp with horse rides, branding, cowboy campfire, and chuckwagon dinner. Showers are available.
