Phillips Junction
Commissary
Elevation 8,940 ft
Description
PJ is a commissary (no camping) in a pleasant valley in the middle of a confusion of trails and roads. Follow your compass (or the creeks) and you'll find it with no problem. Note PJ does have showers, but the water pump is driven by solar power, so no showers until the sun is over the ridge — after about 9 AM.
Activities
Food pickup (some itineraries), fresh fruit, trading post. Showers available.
Water
Purified water is available near the main warehouse.
Nearby Camps
Beaubien is about 2 miles to the northeast by trail.
Trails
There is a confusion of trails and roads around PJ - many leading nowhere. To the northwest are trails leading to Crooked Creek and Clear Creek. To the northeast is Beaubien. South along Rayado Creek eventually reaches Fish Camp, and southwest works its way over the ridge to Apache Springs.
